Live a Life of Growth and Fulfillment

When people think of self improvement, they may not realize the lasting and grand effects that it has on their life. It may seem like a task best saved for those motivational speakers. But that is not the case. A life of improvement, development, growth and evolution is one that is full and satisfying. When you are busy learning and growing, you have less time to complain, find fault, and worry.

5 Tips for Self Improvement

There are so many ways to foster growth and self improvement, the possibilities are endless! We’ve put together a list of five ways to educate yourself, grow mentally and emotionally, and to encourage new perspectives.

  1. Wake up early and get an energized start to your day. Do not jump right onto your phone if you wake up early. Take 10-30 minutes to move, to mediate, to read, or to do a self care routine that will nourish you and fuel your day.
  2. Speaking of meditation, if you don’t already have a meditation practice, now is the time to start. The benefits of sitting quietly with oneself are immeasurable. Even if you cannot sit still for more than a minute the first day, keep at it and you will improve. Take time to pay attention to your breath, to slow down, and to not distract yourself with your phone, the television, or someone else. Sit with your emotions and thoughts and they will become clearer, and may even dissipate. There is a bounty of health benefits that meditation offers if you give it a chance.
  3. Read a book. Not only does reading improve focus and comprehension, it revives your vocabulary and allows you to remember what it is like to use your imagination. It helps you to decipher things and come up with conclusions, where not everything is handed to you.
  4. Get out of your comfort zone by trying new things, saying yes to invitations, and meeting new people. Challenging yourself can help you to expand your world and your perspective.
  5. Try a new hobby. Whether it’s knitting, jogging, hiking, or crafting. Find something new that excites you and interests you. Learn about it, indulge in it, and find friends who are also interested. It will form new connections in your brain as well as socially, and bring you a new joy. Doing something new creates a burst of adrenaline and serotonin, a chemical combination that helps solidify new relationships.
